Landmarks Illinois acquires Illinois Main Street

Today marks an exciting new chapter for Illinois Main Street. I'm honored to share this news with you.

Earlier today, Landmarks Illinois joined us for our monthly statewide call where we announced that they've joined the Main Street movement as the network's newest Coordinating Program for Illinois Main Street. Main Street America assumed this temporary responsibility eight years ago in response to extraordinary circumstances that eliminated the original administration established by the State of Illinois.

Through this mutually agreed-upon acquisition, Landmarks Illinois will administer existing IMS operations and serve our state's broad network of members and community organizations advancing preservation-based economic development through programming and technical assistance.

"Illinois Main Street is an impactful statewide organization in Main Street’s national movement, and Main Street America has been proud to steward it," said Erin Barnes, President and CEO at Main Street America. "Landmarks Illinois, with its strong ties and local partners and understanding of the state’s economic development landscape, is uniquely suited to support the Illinois Main Street program in continuing and growing its success.”

Over the following months, I will support IMS operations during this transition.

Learn more about Landmarks Illinois and read the full announcement here, and make sure to get your tickets for the Illinois Main Street Conference where you can meet the Landmarks team in person.

Lastly, this next phase brings new opportunities: Landmarks Illinois is hiring a full-time Illinois Main Street program manager. Learn more about this position and apply here.

Looking forward to our next adventure with Landmarks Illinois by our side,
